FAQ

CAN RESIN FLOORS GET DAMAGED?

Resin floors, like any other floor, are subjected to foot traffic and therefore slight scratches must be tolerated, particularly in high-traffic areas like corridors and entrances. As a matter of fact resin floors and wooden floors performances are similar. Some finishes even enhance resin resistance. A proper maintenance and the choice of uneven colours almost prevent the problem.

CAN RESIN FLOORS DEVELOP CRACKS?

No, provided laying time, quantity of material and subflooring are properly done. Resin floors “photograph” the condition of the underlying structure. A water leak in the plumbing system, a structural failure can develop cracks. On the contrary, slight settlements of the subflooring or cold/warm dilatations are wholly tolerated. Resin floors developing cracks are exceptions and therefore this risk is highly improbable.

CAN DAMAGED RESIN FLOORS BE REPAIRED?

Resin floors can always be repaired, often perfectly. Gloss finishes are the most troublesome since the refraction of light and the very nature of finishes make repairs more visible. This is the reason why uneven colours are always advisable. Repairs on sleeked or decorated resin floors are much less noticeable. Admittedly chromatic repairs, fillings and maintenance are easier on matt and satin finishes.

HOW DO YOU WASH RESIN FLOORS?

Specific detergents for resins can be ordered at any specialized dealer. We are talking about professional, non foamy cleaning products with controlled PH. They don’t need rinsing and can be used like common cleansers. Common, non abrasive cleansers with neutral PH cannot be used without asking an expert’s advice.

CAN RESINS BE LAID ON HEATED FLOORS?

Absolutely. Resin floors are good conductors of heat and walking barefoot on a heated resin floor is indeed a very pleasant sensation. There’s no downside, only pluses.

CAN SHOWERS AND BATHROOMS WALLS BE REALIZED IN RESIN?

Definitely. Resin is a waterproof material and resin walls in bathrooms are easy to clean and, being seamless, allow the creation of continuous aesthetic solutions on all surfaces. Resins well tolerate environmental damp but not subflooring damp. Dry subfloorings ensure perfect results.

CAN RESIN FLOORS BE LAID ON OLD TILE FLOORINGS?

Yes, resin floors often turn out to be the optimal solution in renovations. Low thickness and good capacity to stick to old floorings avoid tiles removal and doors cutting. Old floorings to be covered must be sound and steady. If in doubt, an inspection will assess feasibility.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LAY RESIN FLOORS OR TRADITIONAL RESIN COVERINGS?

About one working week and depending on the size of the surface (it will take some more days for 150-200 sq.m and over). Less than one week for resin walls. Every single step of laying requires a given drying time and on completion walking on the floor is forbidden for one day. These are anyway general data which may vary in accordance to each single work.

WHICH ARE THE NECESSARY CONDITIONS TO LAY RESIN FLOORS OR RESIN COVERINGS?

Good subfloorings having a maximum damp rate of 4%, room temperature of 18-20 degrees, availability of water and electric energy.

ARE RESIN FLOORS ECO-FRIENDLY?

The materials employed in resin floors are certified class 1 and some finishes are even edible. Being in compliance with the current regulations, resin floors and coverings are often used in public places and commercial environments. During laying there might be a slight smell due to the catalysis of the substances but once works are completed the resin chemical system is totally fixed and no substance is released neither in the air nor by direct contact.
